An expert would look at this behaviour and say that it takes time to establish new habits.
But do I really want a new habit? Maybe things should go back to the way they were, just with some extra things to stop the mad panic rush to throw a post together and get it out there (one of the main reasons why I wanted to change).
There are two major reasons why I want to go back. First, I am bored. Not having the blog everyday has me staring at the computer screen at the library asking what the hell am I forgetting. It’s like a limb has been amputated.
Second, my mind is going crazy. I have so much that I want to tell all of you people and the bizarre thing is I haven’t met most of you, I think I can count on one hand the number of people I know who read this blog that I am friends with in real life. Plus, one family member (hi Rach). To me you’re technically strangers, yet I have blabbed to you about soooooo much. Kind of scary. So you guys must be here for some voyeuristic fetish (watch the crazy person), for the fiction (there is an announcement for this, keep reading), or for the “I don’t know”. Either way, please enjoy.
So there it is. I may have been rash on changing the days.
Doesn’t mean I’m going back to the old way completely.
I think there was a reason why I was feeling like crap of late when doing five days a week; no passion for my topics. Many times I’d be throwing something together just to get it up online and make it to the next day. If you read back, it is clear where I am feeding my heart to the words. And it is clear where I am having the tumble weeds blowing through my mind.
First change, I’m keeping the minimum word limit. It’s come about because of the three-day thing, but I like it, this gives me something to aim for and scope to explore (don’t judge, this is good for you too because there is more for you to read).
Second change, other than Wednesday and Friday, no other days will have set topics or themes. They will be wild.
Third change, there will be a back-up list of drafts of at least ten articles. I better get writing. Along with images that I don’t have to find for free and without copyrights online (being more mindful of that sort of thing now days).
And finally, the Friday series will only start if the story is complete. In other words, bear with me as I write the new series this month, it will start being published next month once I’ve finished pimping my books again (this is the big news, a new series to watch out for, and it is a romantic one).
Referring back to last Monday’s post, this is how I want to spend my time; creating and sharing it.
