Such an odd romance.
Sabrina (Audrey Hepburn) is in love with David Larrabee (William Holden), has been her all her life. David is a self-obsessed play boy only after a good time. Linus (Humphrey Bogart) is the cold business man brother with no time for love. When Sabrina returns from a two year stint in Paris as a grown woman, she catches David's attention. Linus steps in to nip this affair... but things get complicated as he starts seeing more of Sabrina.
I love the changes in the characters; Sabrina grows up, David has to take responsibility, Linus must open up his heart and trust.
To me the theme is sacrifice. If you have to give up things that make you happy for the one you love, you'll only end up bitter and consumed. Sacrifice the distractions such as work, pride and vanity, and you'll grow in love together. O maybe I'm being overly romantic.
I liked this a lot. It's sweet and confusing, who is the right person and how do you know or even how do you measure love? Is it by the years or the intensity?
Beautifully written and filmed. Forget the other Sabrina film, it cannot match this at all.
