Love at first sight. They would talk for hours and it would seem like they had known each other for years. The first date would be sweet and not awkward at all. His parents would love her and welcome her into the over protective household.
This would be a simple love story with the right girl.
Because Fate never gambles.
Which is why no-one gambled on the fact Becca Watson would be the one hit by the bus and Ethan would meet the wrong girl.
“God Zoe, you are such a slut.” Ash exclaimed.
“What did you just say, bitch?” I gasped and gave her a playful shove.
“Is that a hickey I see?”
Self-consciously I ducked my head and shrugged.
“What was his name?” Ash poked me in the ribs.
“Don’t know. I was a little bit out of it, just finished work and all that and I was a little smashed.” I narrowed my eyes. “And so were you Miss Hypocrite.”
“I’m sorry slut-bags. Were you speaking? I just noticed there is a second hickey.”
We giggled and hurried along down the street. Ash tapped my arm and pointed down the road. “What’s happened down there?”
A crowd had gathered in front of a stopped bus.
“Maybe the bus ploughed some idiot down.” I tsked. “Always look to the left and then the right and then back again before crossing.”
We grinned and carefully crossed the road.
“How was the job last night?” Ash asked.
“Great. But I was a little under-prepared.”
“Yeah? Got screwed over again?”
“Yeah, the intelligence analysts conveniently forgot to mention it was a lesbian couple about to have a threesome to create a baby. That makes things complicated.”
