The bed was empty.
My smile disappeared.
I could still feel the indents of his fingers digging into my hips, the cradle of his palm against my breasts, and the tickling trail of kisses down my neck... so it wasn’t a dream. Plus these sheets weren’t mine, and there was the smell of Jai all around me.
Not a dream or a fantasy; this was a reality. I had pretty good sex with Jai.
There was noise coming from outside the bedroom. I sat up, threw on my clothes from last night, looked at my boobs and then snagged a shirt from the end of the bed and slipped it on over the top. If Jai was alone then I could undo the buttons running down my front and... you know, do that. However if he had neglected to mention housemates or friends coming over in the morning, or worse case scenario, family dropping by, then at least my boobs would be covered. Yes I look like I have just rolled out of bed and that last night I had let Jai ring the devil’s doorbell aka my clitoris, but I could still feel comfortable around other humans.
Stumbling from the bed I followed the noise down the hall, realising what the noise was once I reached the kitchen. Boiling water.
I stepped into the room and just watched Jai’s broad back as he poured from the kettle to something hidden in front of him.
Too bad he was fully clothed. T-shirt and jeans. Shame.
Jai turned. “Whoa! Morning,” his smile crawled across his face. “Tea?”
I moved across the tiles and took the cup from his hand. “Thank you,” I murmured.
“Wow, you’re really not a morning person.” Jai leaned his forearms against the island bench.
I moved to the other side and took residence on one of the stools. “It depends on how much sleep I’ve had.” A goofy grin matching his. “So I’m having intense thoughts of a shower and brushing my teeth and maybe going back to bed. Want to join me?”
“In the shower?” He wriggled his eye brows.
“It’s a water saving tip.”
“Well if it’s for the environment... I can get behind that.”
There was a knot in my stomach. “That’s if you don’t have plans for this morning.”
“I’m yours for the rest of the day.” He quickly countered. “In fact, I was going to get things ready for our date tonight but since you’re here already.”
Looking around I considered for a moment. “The date was going to be here?”
He nodded. “I was going to cook and then we could watch a movie, why are you laughing?”
“You... hahaha... you were going to... tehehe... Oh my God... tonight you were going to make a move.”
“No.” But his face turned bright red.
“Movie is code. Well, the old code. Nowadays the hipsters use Netflix.”
Briefly he closed his eyes before opening them and focusing on me. “I am well aware of the code but I wasn’t going to do that with you because we hadn’t talked about it. I didn’t think you were ready for that just yet.”
Boy was he mistaken. I shrugged. “I don’t regret last night.”
“And neither do I.”
“Good,” I sipped the steaming cup, doing it in that special way that I didn’t scorch my tongue. “But first I want to finish this tea.”
He smiled and sat on a stool beside me, his leg swinging out and seeking my knee. I didn’t shift. “So...”
“So...” I mimicked. “Last night happened.”
“It did. Did you...”
“Did I what? If you have to ask then maybe you already know the answer.” I bit my lip.
He looked confused. “So you didn’t like it?”
“Huh? Yeah I liked it. I liked it a lot.” Blinking, I frowned. “Did you... like it?”
His smile became goofy once again and I knew that the feelings were mutual. “Of course. Especially when you did that thing with your mouth...”
“Which thing?” Slipping forward I placed my hand on his thigh to steady myself. “Was it this?” I craned my neck to reach his, my lips pressing a kiss to his pulse before parting and sucking, just a little.
“Hmm. Not that. It was a lot lower than that.”
“Oh, you mean the tongue flick that I did?” My hand swished back and forth in the air, exactly how my tongue had done it only hours before.
“Can you demonstrate,” his chin tilted down and he pleaded with me with his eyes.
“First, that’s cheating, using puppy dog eyes like that. Second thing,” I sipped my tea wishing that it had been spiked. Some liquid courage would’ve been nice right about then. “No sex this morning, please.”
He sat back and tilted his head. “Okay.”
That was it? No insistent hands and those horrible words ‘but you said yes last night’ and that look of disappointment? Really?
“What is it?” He asked.
“You are not like other guys. My ex would’ve been persistent in getting what he wanted.”
“You can say no at any time. Just like I can.”
I gaped. “You would say no to sex?”
“Yeah, if I didn’t want to or I thought she wasn’t as into it as me or it wouldn’t be the right thing to do.”
He said it so matter of fact I honestly thought I was talking to another girl. A guy who would say no... did they really exist? I thought that was all that every guy wanted, all they thought of. If you had sex you were giving them what they wanted and in most cases that left you with very little bargaining power.
“Want to cuddle on the lounge?” He asked.
I smiled. “Yes.” I really need to stop over analysing everything.
