Terry Doolittle (Whoopi Goldberg) works behind a computer in a bank and doesn't fit the norm; she is smart, mouthy, and very much on the edge. Then she receives a coded message through her computer from a man called Jumpin Jack Flash (Jonathan Pryce) . Once she breaks the code she finds herself dragged into a world of spies and double crossing.
Now for the list. I understand this is fiction and none of this is possible in our world for an ordinary office worker, however, why is it soooo unbelievable? A civilian woman is not only dragged into the mess but she outwits and physically over powers trained spies? How can anyone sneak into an embassy while lip syncing? Goldberg types like an idiot, smashing fingers over forty keys to write 'yes'. This is terribly insulting to admin people the world over.
Oh, the fashion might be forgiven, it was 1986 after all.
Whoopi is funny and her supporting cast were very supportive... but there was nothing amazing about their performances. Not that the story gave them anything to really play with.
And don't get me started on Jack (Pryce). When we finally *spoiler* meet him, I cringed and cried. The dude looks like that creepy guy at a park without a dog and no children of his own. Very rapey looking.
