Kate Morseley (Moira Kelly) is a talented figure skating with issues trusting her skating partners. She is skating no where. Doug Dorsey (D. B. Sweeney) was once a god of ice hockey until an accident reduced his field of vision. No one wants him on their team. Then one very eccentric Russian coach decides to put the two together for the Winter Olympics pairs skating USA team.
I normally don't like rom coms, however, this one with it's witty barbs and fast humour won me over many years ago. I love the dialogue, it is to die for and probably more of what I expect from possible suitors (which is why I am single). I love the skating, fabulously choreographed it is a feast for the eyes to watch and really hard not to want to head to the nearest ice rink. I cringe over the outfits, the eighties and early nineties have a lot to answer for. And finally, there is the heart. Something about the way this story has been presented, the character development and the breaking down of barriers, it feels natural. Nothing seems to be faked or overly glossy as Kate and Doug battle it out on the ice. I love this movie, it is like foreplay.
