After eight years in a committed relationship, I have broken up with my old computer and brought a new one.
I'm starting a new relationship.
It's up to date, doesn't wheeze and threaten suicide if I ask it to work longer than five minutes, and I have space on the hard drive. It is so pretty. It did take a while to set up Office on it though, apparently Microsoft has decided that you must connect to the internet in order to download and activate the product instead of the old school disc. So that took a while to do, pretty much the entire day, which wasn't so bad since I was getting help from my friend and eating chocolate.
I feel a little sad at saying good bye to my old lover. It was my best friend, comrade in writing, and my salvation when the DVD player stopped working and I needed to watch the very next episode. My little friend served me well. And what do I do to it? I replace it with a newer version and stick it in a drawer. I just can't bring myself to destroy it with a hammer and open fire. Not yet.
So I am hooking up my new baby and having some fun stroking the keys and... sorry, no more innuendos, it is making me sick.
I have a new computer, that is all.
