I have nothing against tattoos, in fact when it comes to a really well executed design I am in awe. Tattoo artists who really earn the title through talent and skill deserve to be admired and inundate with clients. Those with little or no talent should never pick up a needle and stab people, filling their skin with ink that cannot be removed without thousands of dollars worth of lasers. Fear one; bad tattoo job.
Fear two; needles. Who really enjoys being stabbed with thousands of little pricks? Who? Not I. I don’t even like having a doctor inject me with medicine. No way would I be able to go through that pain for hours just to have a picture in my skin.
Fear three; finally, not only do I change my mind frequently, I also don’t want to look like I’ve rolled in comics or allowed toddlers to attack me with texta. I have considered tattoos, but after a while the design and even the location on my body no longer appeals.
I guess I am just not the tattoo type of person. But don’t assume I’m prim and proper just because I am ink free. That’s just me.
If you are getting a tattoo because everyone else has one, or it was a dare (or a bet), or even because you have no reason and said to the artist, “Draw whatever, I want ink,” maybe, just maybe, you should take some time to think about it. Tattoos are a big life decision and should not be treated like a fad.
