Erica Yurken (Yuck, to other people) knows she doesn't belong at Barringa East Primary School. She was too smart, accomplished, and destined for greater things. None of her peers were a threat... until Alison Ashley. She's pretty, polite, the teachers love her, and she won't be going to Barringa East High School next year. Erica hates her.
Scary accurate; those early years of puberty are full of struggles to fit in, find your voice and use it, and making a fool of yourself with everything you do. Everything. Nothing you try can stop it.
I really enjoyed this book. Why wasn't this on the reading list when I was in year six? Perceptions are challenged and the cutters of poppies learn from their prejudice. All in all, a very good read.
