Agnes was happily cooking and preparing for the wedding of her god-daughter when the first guy with a gun invades her kitchen... and then died when he fell through the concealed door into the basement Agnes never knew about. Lucky for her Joey (ex-mob) called Shane (the sexy nephew) to come take care of her and protect her from the rest of the guys with guns, the police, a homicidal grandmother-of-the-bride, and anyone else who would say bad things about her cooking.
Shane; I want, even if he’s a hitman.
The beginning was a little farfetched but once I hit the second chapter I couldn’t stop laughing out loud or lusting over Shane (another fictional husband to add to my harem).
Crusie and Mayer have worked magic to bring these unique and lovable (not so lovable ones as well) characters to life. It is fast paced and full of intrigue. Agnes is crazy and it is so nice to see her embrace it and find friends and a lover who not only accept but encourage her to be insane (as long as she is far out of reach of a fry pan). She is a great role model.
Yet another book I have fallen in love with.
