How on Earth did I miss this book? Then again it is nice to be reading a Cruisie story that I have no idea where it is going. I loved it!
Mae Sullivan is looking for the most mentally challenged PI to investigate the “murder” of her uncle (it was a heart attack but she says murder) when really she wants the missing diary to be found. Instead she gets Mitch Peatwick... and everything goes to hell in a hand basket. Her over-protective (slightly homicidal) family get in the way, secrets are revealed and the long line of lovers her (elderly) uncle had, all just added to the problems.
Once again Cruisie has delivered a punchy story with great wit and laugh out loud moments. I honestly loved it.
Mae is a strong woman who has to fight everyone around her who is determined to take care of her, for her own good. Mitch is funny, intelligent, caring and not-so charming which makes him perfect for Mae.
This is a romance that I will read again and again (which for me is an amazing thing) and probably again. And then go find the other books I haven’t read of Jenny Cruisie. I think it is about time I read Agnes and the Hitman.
